Early Life
Jasmine Michael Jordan was born on December 7, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, to Michael Jordan and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy. She is the youngest child of Michael and Juanita, and has two older brothers, Jeffrey and Marcus Jordan. After her parents’ divorce in 2006, her father Michael Jordan married model Yvette Prieto. Jasmine has two half-sisters, Victoria and Ysabel Jordan (born 2014) from her father’s second marriage.
Jasmine pursued the first two years of high school from a private Jesuit Catholic School, ‘Loyola Academy,’ in northern suburb of Chicago. She also studied at the Chicago Public School and the ‘Whitney Young Magnet High School.’
Jasmine Jordan was a little puzzled by the magnitude of media attention when she declared her intention of joining ‘Syracuse University.’ On her social media account, the 18-year old posted the details of her preparations for college and her excitement of joining the university.
At one point of time, she also aspired to be a model and did a photo-shoot with ‘Dream House Studios.’
At the University
Though her older brothers followed-in their father and played basketball at the ‘University of Central Florida,’ Jasmine Jordan did not play the game at her university. In 2012, along with Scoop Jardine, she co-hosted the SU’s ‘Orange Madness.’ According to her, she is an extrovert, and enjoyed events at the university.
Jasmine Jordan graduated in 2014, majoring in sports management.
After Graduation
After completing her graduation, Jasmine started working as field representative in sports marketing at the ‘Nike Jordan’ brand. In January 2018, the ‘Jordan Heiress Collection’ was launched, for which she helped in designing, choosing colors and marketing more feminine products. She was a prominent part of the whole process. For the ‘Brand Jordan,’ Jasmine works in Oregon, at the Nike HQ.
When Jasmine Jordan is not working with Nike, she is at Charlotte, North Carolina. She helps manage her father’s NBA team, ‘Charlotte Hornets.’ She also represents some of the players of this team. For four NBA seasons she worked as the ‘basketball operations coordinator’ for the ‘Charlotte Hornets.’
Engagement & Motherhood
In 2013, during her university years, Jasmine Jordan’s posts on social media raised speculations about her sexual orientation. A message, ‘Until Love, Trust, Honesty, Respect, Loyalty, Commitment, Genuine Happiness and other characteristics or aspects I want in a relationship is defined by one gender, then and only then will I discuss my sexual preferences,’ nearly confirmed her inclinations.
However, things changed later and Michael Jordan also happily announced that his daughter was dating men.
Relationship with Rakeem Christmas
Jasmine Jordan met Rakeem Christmas at ‘Syracuse University’ and the two were close friends all through the university years. It is said that they got romantically associated with each other only after their graduation. In June 2018, they announced their engagement and by the end of 2018, both announced that Jasmine was pregnant with their first child. In February and April 2019, she posted pictures of baby showers on her social media accounts.
In May 2019, the couple announced the arrival of their first child, a son. On the occasion of ‘Mother’s Day’ she shared a picture of her child, who was holding her finger. The picture displayed a tattoo of ‘25’ (Rakeem’s Syracuse jersey number) on her finger. However, the baby’s name was not disclosed, and was only mentioned as ‘Baby RMC.’
It is not clear whether Jasmine and Rakeem are married, but on her Instagram account she referred themselves as ‘Mr. & Mrs. Christmas …seriously!’
According to Jasmine Jordan, she is a homebody, just like her father, and prefers to maintain a low profile. She gives her mother the credit of keeping all three siblings grounded, in spite of being heirs/heiress of a billionaire father. Jasmine always felt that their family was under a microscope.
She claims that studying at a public school helped her tremendously, as she learnt how other people lived. However, she asserts that her family background and fame posed difficulties during her initial university days, as she had to face a lot of unwanted attention.
As per her Twitter bio, Jasmine Jordan is a ‘Proud daughter of Michael Jordan.’ She is very active on social media and her Instagram account boasts of over 77K followers, while Twitter account has 10K followers.
